MOM STYLE: RED LIP

I posted a while back about going through a “mom- life crisis” where I wanted to make all these crazy changes. Thankfully I did not pull the trigger on any of the more permanent things, but I did enjoy wearing my “leather” pants more often and today I decided to try out the red lipstick look. Before I had little W, I was very low maintenance with my looks on a day to day basis. Yes, I loved getting all fancy and rocking makeup when I had a real reason too, like date nights or girls dinners. But as far as my everyday look, it was pretty pathetic. No, really pathetic. One would think that once I had a baby it would just continue or get worse, but honestly it has done the complete opposite. I am really making a effort to “get ready” everyday and you know what, I am really liking it. I have found it takes just as much energy to reach for the skinny jeans and nice sweater as it does the stretchy yoga pants and oversized tee shirt. Call me shallow but devoting a few extra minutes to putting myself together each morning has made a real difference in the way I feel about myself, and gives me an extra boost of confidence. What mom (or any lady for that matter) doesn’t want to give herself a boost?! Whatever works right!
I have also decided that I want to be cooler (wishful thinking on my part). I have found that simple little changes in my every day outfits really can change a look from drab to fab (or FABBO as my dear friend, Amber says). Add a tailored blazer, killer shoes, and a red lip totally took this boring gray sweater and jeans to a whole different level.

So ladies, if you are feeling down in the gutter about your looks, I highly recommend going to CVS, grabbing some cheap red lipstick and ROCKING IT. I was terrified of red lipstick. I would put it on and then immediately wipe it off….and this went on for months. But today, was my day. My red lip debut and damn it felt good.

Black blazer (similar). Gray sweater (similar). Joe’s jeans (on sale!). Black pumps (similar). Dior cat eyes.
